2015, Cayuse, Cailloux Vineyard Viognier Price: 700,00 DKK

I’m becoming more and more convinced that the Viognier from this estate is the best example of the variety in the United States, and the 2015 Viognier Cailloux Vineyard does nothing to change my opinion. It’s flat out gorgeous and exhibits notes of white flowers, white fruits and just hints of telltale apricot and honey with time in the glass. Medium-bodied, ultra pure and fresh, yet with depth and texture, hats off to the team here for this smokin’ good Viognier. It’s one of the few that would stand up to the best coming from the northern Rhône valley.

2016 Cayuse En Cerise Syrah Price: 1.200,00 DKK

The 2016 Syrah En Cerise Vineyard is another winner (best to date?), showing an incredibly bloody, iron quality as well as beautiful purity in its bright cherry, blackberries, violets, pork fat, and acacia flower aromas and flavors. Seamless, silky, gorgeous, and perfectly balanced, it's another heavenly wine from Baron that’s going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15.

Incredibly northern Rhône-like, with beautiful raspberry, crushed flowers, smoked meats, and fireplace notes, the 2016 Syrah En Chamberlin Vineyard is full-bodied, fleshy, and incredibly sexy on the palate, with serious depth of fruit. It's a gorgeous, Côte Brune-like effort to drink over the coming 15-20 years.

FORSALG, hjemkommer ultimo april

From a higher density planting just beside the estate, the 2016 Syrah Armada Vineyard is unquestionably the most unevolved, backward, and tight of the Syrahs. Blackcurrants, plums, lavender, and ash all emerge from this full-bodied, powerful, classic, almost old-school Syrah that has high acidity, beautiful fruit, and a tight, closed, firm feel on the palate. It’s going to require 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve like a great Côte Rôtie.

2014 Cayuse God Only Know Price: 1.200,00 DKK
   In Stock
There are 533 cases of the 2014 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard, and as always, it's an unknown blend that's dominated by Grenache (reportedly from vine cuttings from Rayas). It's fermented with just about 100% whole clusters in concrete and aged mostly in neutral puncheons and foudre, with one concrete egg. A bigger, richer wine than the No Girls cuvee, this beauty packs a punch in its black cherry, reduced strawberry, herbes de Provence and crushed violet aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant style and fine tannin, this singular beauty will benefit from a year or three of cellaring and keep for 10-15 years.

Coming from the Armada Vineyard and a field blend of primarily Grenache, the 2015 God Only Knows is a singular beauty that could come from nowhere else.
Its light ruby color is followed by a complex, nuanced bouquet of ripe cherries, sous bois, herbes de Provence, and charcoal/cold fireplace-like nuances. It blossoms with time in the glass, is medium-bodied, has integrated acidity, and fine tannin, and it just glides over the palate and is a joy to drink. It’s going to be better with 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for a decade.

Incoming december 2019

Always in the running for the best Grenache made in the United States, the 2016 God Only Knows is another terrific example of the cuvée. Sporting a medium ruby color and complex notes of herbes de Provence, forest floor, decaying flowers, and assorted red and black fruits, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, light, silky tannin, and a great finish. Again, it’s the balance and seamlessness that sets this apart.

Insanely aromatic notes of potpourri, raspberry, white pepper, soot, funk and earth are followed by bright, fresh, focused, rich fruit and savory flavors. It shows a sense of delicacy and intensity with unparalleled balance. There is no end to the finish. What makes this Grenache-driven wine so extraordinary? God only knows.
